Your layout is really original and should be wonderfull to operate but I suppose that to be really fonctiunal the four sidings that vanish in the four corners of the photo lead towards a small station or a goods platform or a small industry or a harbourgh ; could you tell me what you have at the end of your sidings and the way you operate your layout? Thank you
Yours faithfully stéphane TRUC

Hello Stuart,

I am very enthusiastic about your Big Foot Lumber lay-out. I am an avid player of the Trainz RR simulator and I would really like to re-build your lay-out in the simulator. I would appreciate it if you could give me permission to build it. ( erikkegge AT gmail DOT com ).

Thank you in advance,

Regards,
Erik

Thanks for leaving these designs on the site.

There are some good ideas and tips here regardless of lack of updates.

cheers

Then we could go "Continental" with: Jägermeister©!

There could be a small fuel facility (single mounted tank or road access for small tank truck) on the lower left curved spur for our Unimog© or Trackmobile© shunter!

The improvements seem well thought out. I am sure that there were a few intermediate stations on the Caledonian route, so that having an imagined emergency for diversion would not be necessary. There may be needs of creativity for the NG line, but that is what we are all about!

It has taken quite a while to come up with an alternative to the 'Public Washrooms?', but I think perhaps a cooperage with an open side to see the workings might be a reasonable substitute. It would also give a few more possibilities for operations (lumber and metal bands in; finished casks to distillery; sawdust and scraps out, etc.). With only half the building, one would not need to portray all of the workings, yet with lots of room for details if one wanted to.

And so I do not leave someone out, the distillery could also be any of number of wonderful "Glens".

(Above I did mean "3-way switch" not "Y".)

And I forgot to mention that the 3 upper right spurs and the upper left spur onto the traverser would probably work quite well as a 3-2-2 Inglenook if one was so inclined.

Talk about a lot of action in a shelf-sized area! And my favorite subject, too!!! I wonder if a "Y" could be substituted at the upper-most left switch [how else to describe it?] allowing at least the impression of a second entrance to the main distillery building? Now all I need are the box cars that say "Jack" or "Jim" or "Stolly"! LOL! This could work well with the new "Trackmobile" micro-switcher!

Sorry for the delayed response [computer crash/change/recovery/etc.]. Great idea Tim! The tunnel could maybe then go to a hidden fiddle area/cassette restage/etc. (trying to keep the initial idea of "micro" in mind, myself!) Operation the would include two rail companies with goods of any type.

I fear that length will have to be added to the spurs to be able to get a shunting puzzle, per se. At least I am stymied on the puzzle aspect.

Could certainly be a small Welsh coal mine or a slate quarry, with the 'station' (it is a station in the center?) for the workers. Several trains per day at shift-change, plus all of the activity of shipping the product. It could be done!
